In September 2005 Mr. and Mrs. Bill North approached Penny for ideas to develop a heavily shaded narrow sloping strip of grass set to one side of their garden. They commissioned Penny, and by July 2006 the design had been agreed, constructed and planted. A boring green piece of lawn, as shown in the “before” images into a magical rill that delights and surprises the many visitors to their gardens, such as during the annual Fladbury Walkabout.
The varied planting embodies a palate of colours as shown on the watercolour montage. Mrs. Christine North still uses this montage to guide her in any additional planting she undertakes.
